This Cookies Policy explains how Bontado (“us”, “we” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies. Bontado provides restaurants with a commission-free online ordering and table-reservation system that they add to their own website or Facebook page, or run through a free Bontado-generated restaurant website. This policy covers cookies used both on Bontado’s own website (where restaurant owners sign up and manage their account) and within the online ordering widget and restaurant websites that diners use to place their orders.
COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
Cookies are small files of data that your browser stores on your device when you visit a website or use an application. Bontado uses them for essential and useful purposes: keeping a restaurant owner signed in to their dashboard; and, within a restaurant’s ordering widget, remembering the diner’s cart, their chosen ordering method (delivery or pickup), and their delivery address while they complete an order from a restaurant that uses Bontado.
We may also use other similar technologies such as web beacons, clear GIFs, page tags, and pixels. These usually take the form of a small, transparent image embedded in a web page or email. They work together with cookies and can capture data such as your IP address, when you viewed a page or email, the device you used, and your approximate location.
TYPES OF COOKIES
Cookies can be classified as First-party cookies and Third-party cookies.
First-party cookies are set by Bontado (or its processors) operating the dashboard, the ordering widget, or the Bontado-generated website you are using, as defined by the URL displayed in the browser address bar.
Third-party cookies are set by parties that do not operate the site you are visiting — for example, the payment gateway a restaurant connects to collect online payments, map and location providers, or analytics services. For these cookies we have limited control, and they are governed by the providers’ own policies.
COOKIES CATEGORIES
We group the cookies we use into the following categories, depending on their purpose:
Necessary cookies make the service usable by enabling core functions such as secure login to the restaurant dashboard, keeping the diner’s ordering session and cart active while they order, and processing payments. The service cannot work properly without these cookies, and your consent is not required for them.
Preference or Functionality cookies let us remember choices that change how the service behaves or looks, such as the preferred language and currency, and a diner’s saved delivery address and chosen ordering method.
Statistics or Performance cookies help us understand how the service is used by collecting and reporting information anonymously — for example, how restaurant owners use the dashboard, or where diners move through and drop off in the ordering popup — so we can improve the ordering experience.
Marketing cookies, also known as Advertising or Targeting cookies, are used to show relevant offers and promotions and to limit how often the same message is shown, both on Bontado and on other websites.
HOW LONG DO COOKIES LAST?
Depending on how long a cookie stays on your device, cookies are either Session or Persistent. Session cookies are temporary and are automatically deleted when you close your browser, while Persistent cookies remain for a set period (from minutes to days or even years) so we can, for example, keep a restaurant owner signed in or remember a diner’s delivery address for their next order.
HOW TO CONTROL COOKIES
Bontado will only set non-essential cookies after you have provided your consent through the cookie banner shown when you first visit. For Necessary cookies, consent is not required as they are needed for the service to function.
You may withdraw your consent or change your preferences at any time through the “Cookie Settings” option in our cookie banner. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling certain cookies may affect features such as login, cart, and checkout.
YOUR RIGHTS
If you have any concern about how we collect or use cookies, please raise it with the Bontado support team in the first instance, or with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
